Time To Get Your Life Together

How to Maximize Time & Get Organized!

As I am getting older, I am starting to realize the importance of time and how to maximize my time to be as productive as I can be. Between school, jobs, and having a social life, it can be hard! Which is why I have compiled a list of tips and tricks to kick start organizing your life. If you have any tips you would like to share, let us know!

I cannot stress enough how much a planner saves my life. From due dates, to holidays, to even dinner with friends, I put everything down in a planner. You never want to be the person that double books because you forgot you made plans and didn’t remember because you didn’t have a written reminder! Planners really help not only with seeing the big picture, but organizing your day as well. Don’t want to spend money on a physical planner or you spend all day on your phone? Google Calendar is your new best friend. Color code and micromanage your life through Google Calendar - you don’t have an excuse to not organize your life if your planner is already accessible on your phone!

My other best friend, to-do lists. Don’t we all love a good list. Before you get carried away with writing down all the things you need to do, don’t forget to make your to-do lists attainable. Creating a list of 20 things to do may come off a little daunting, so instead write down the top 3 things you would like to achieve for the day, and maybe write down 5 additional tasks if you complete your main three goals. Smaller lists aren’t as scary, and you will be more inclined to check things off when it seems that there is not an endless list of things to do. Bonus points if you can make them cute, then you will want to make lists all the time!

We all love a good night out, but they will unfortunately catch up to you eventually. During the week, try going to bed and waking up an hour earlier than usual! I have found that mornings are a very productive time of day because there is less going on (i.e. everyone else is asleep) so there are less distractions when completing tasks in the morning. If you start your day earlier, you can maximize your time during the day by knocking out tedious tasks first and eventually that will get you going on a work grind. And if you wake up super early? Treat yourself to your favorite coffee for an extra pick me up!

This goes off of getting your sleep. If you create a morning routine, you already know what you need to do and what needs to get done - you will have a plan. Take time in the morning to wash your face and have a cup of whatever the heck gets you up and running and reflect on what needs to be done that day - then DO IT. They say it takes 21 days to turn an action into a habit, so be sure to remain consistent as well so your mind and body get used to this routine.

These are a few things I’ve implemented into my life that save me time and stress when it comes to compartmentalizing my day and mapping out my time. Small changes in your schedule can greatly impact how you allocate your time throughout your day, so be sure that the changes you make are attainable! You got this!
